Week three is here and I feel pretty good. Though I will admit I was not feeling my strongest last night on the power snatch. I have previously gotten 70 and a wonky 75 once upon a time (it's not really fair to count that 75 but it makes me feel like I can get it) but for some reason I could not get to that level yesterday. I wonder if it was form, lack of adequate protein/fat/carbs...who knows. But I didn't like it. On the other hand, DUs in the warm up felt phenomenal. HSPUs not so much. So this morning I upped my protein to TWO eggs (plus 2 pieces of bacon) and have included some extra snacks. I think in all honesty I probably haven't gotten enough food in over the past few days. We'll see how I feel this week as it looks like we will be doing a lot of strength wods.
So how have I been faring after my various temptations? Some highs and lows.... Temptation reared its ugly head again on Saturday. I might have had half a bottle of champagne and 4 glasses of red wine. I DID however manage to say no to truffle french fries, gruyere and ham sandwiches, a fig and cheese spread, cream puffs and RED VELVET CAKE. That might have been the worst. God I love me some red velvet cake. I was pretty happy with the outcome though. I've learned that with Paleo moderation is the key...and yes half a bottle of champagne and 4 glasses of wine is in fact moderation. Shut up.
As for visible progress - I feel better and things are certainly fitting better. According to my scale (so happy to have it back), I am down somewhere around 5-6 pounds (though I have much more to lose than most of my fellow gang members).
Food this week is the usual - we are certainly settling into a routine. Made a beef stew on Sunday (still have a little left over) and the rest of the week will consist of steaks, taco night (sans cheese and sour cream of course), chicken curry and perhaps a zuchini and beef casserole on Saturday....I seem to have overbought. Laney's post got me thinking of a couple paleo recipes I love including Ribs in Tomato Sauce (supposed to be served over pasta but just as good with eggplant or squash) and chicken in mushroom wine sauce. Made some paleo beef stroganoff last week and it was pretty good despite the strong taste from the coconut milk. Not sure I will be making that again any time soon though if anyone wants the recipe let me know. OH - and I also made a delicious bacon and tomato soup. So good - and again, happy to pass along the recipe.
Keep up the good work everyone!
Speaking of DU's, Yaz, somehow during warm up yesterday, my DU's rocked. Got a couple of ten in a row in and no tinkles. I'm going to say that paleo cured my incontinence issue with DU's. Oh yeah!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you are rocking it. So you might of had some wine and champagne, yeah yeah yeah, this is tough, keep up the good work.
I'm sad I have not lost 6 lbs. Either my math is terrible (though I was a mathematics minor)or I'm eating too much fat. Maybe all the coconut milk and avocado should be slimmed down. Thoughts?
Do not worry about losing pounds. Fat/Lean body ratio is more important.
