Yesterday was my first true test on this Paleo thing. Although I was prepared for breakfast I had nothing doing for lunch OR dinner! And Mike and I were going to see Roger Waters to boot! Who doesn't want an adult beverage at the best rock show of all time?
Breakfast was the usual - one egg and one pice of bacon. Blah. For lunch I decided to go to Freshii and get a salad (forgot to take a picture). Basically, it consisted of bacon, chicken, romaine, broccoli, cukes, sprouts, tomatoes, avocado and sunflower seeds - with EVOO and balsamic vinegar (yes - I know not technically paleo but the Whole 30 says it is just fine). Plus one of my little muffins to boot. Was feeling good. Feeling righteous.
As for dinner - I found a steakhouse in the United Center vicinity. Perused the menu and found a couple good paleo choices. Dinner was set for 5:15 but unfortunately Mike thought it was at 5:45. As dinner was so early I didn't really do my normal snack. Mistake. Blood sugar levels were in the toilet by the time I ate and boy was I a grump. In retrospect, I probably didn't have near enough protein at lunch either. Lesson learned - never skip your snack!! Dinner (which was pretty good) consisted of a t-bone steak with some delicious sauteed spinach. And water. No adult beverages at the show either - which was the BEST concert I have EVER seen. Mike was in agreement. Roger Waters may be 68 but his voice is still outstanding and the production stands in a category all its own. Not to mention there was something incredibly special with the whole crowd not only knowing all the words, but knowing what song came next. Truly a group experience. Kinda like this experience. Awwwwww......
