16.5 hour fasting WOD. Felt good - er didn't feel bad. Doing DUs the "proper" way. Got 9 consecutive. Finding the sweet spot. HBBS strength is crud - same as my FS. I didn't break the fast until lunch at 12:30. I was crabby and short tempered. I should have eaten immediately after the WOD but met a friend for lunch and waited.
End of fasting meal
package of apples
3 chicken thighs from whole foods
Handful of almonds
Large bottle of water
Small piece of pineapple (mooched from my friend)
Snack
Package of apples
handful of almonds
On the advice of Sheena I bought "Natrual Calm" at whole foods. It's calcium and magnesium supplement. I took it with some Zinc. I don't know if it was the heat and the fast, but it knocked my ass down. At 5:30 I couldn't keep my body stranding (took half a dose). So I zonked for 20 minutes. I still feel like the walking dead. I'll eat a leftover chicken thigh and go straight to bed.
No cheese today as I just skipped it. But eating on the fly, it's a 5g protein source that doesn't smell bad (like Tuna) and I'm not allergic to it (like melon or avacado) with the ease of peeling off some wax (fun wax). I need ideas for more things I can eat that are "work" friendly. I'm a consultant and am rarely at the same desk twice, so it needs to live in my purse. Trail mixes are good but usually there's tons of sugar in the dried fruit.
Are Progenex Muscle Shakes paleo? Sorry Collin, you may have to nix it. Is this a weight loss challenge or strict paleo challenge? How do we judge our results at the end of this? Body composition change?
I have a homemade protein shake recipe I like.
1/4 c. pumpkin (canned stuff ok, not pumpkie pie filling)
1/2 c. coconut milk
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 a banana
3 raw eggs (wash shells before you crack them)
You can also throw some avocado in it
Blend together. Add some ginger or more cinnamon to taste.
Beck- what about subbing in some jerky for the cheese? Also - what about carrying a lunch bag (the kind that stays cold) and have some leftover meat or lunch meats in there?

I'm glad it worked Beck!!! For an added benefit...throw down some zinc when you drink the Mag. I believe zinc is more readily absorbed when taken with the magnesium (or vice versa). Most people are deficient in both magnesium and zinc. We should be getting plenty of it from the soil that our foods are grown in, but modern agriculture has just gone and messed all that up for us.
ReplyDeleteTry 50g of zinc (usually one tablet or capsule) when you down the fizzy mag drink...Watch out for crazy-weird dreams, it seems to be a common theme:)
Great Work!!!
Great ideas Yaz. I'm hoping to have my act together this weekend with "emergency" food. I'm getting sick of nuts and carrots and apples... but they have been good. I also carry a can of tuna
