Stepping Back

So I went to a college reunion on Friday. Friday night and all day Saturday I was strong. I had many people question my eating habits and when I tried to explain the Paleo ethos to them I was greeted with accusations ranging from insanity to depravity. Nice. Anyhow, I didn't have anything to drink the whole weekend. My misfortune came when I said, "You know, one rice crispie treat wouldn't hurt me...."

Fast forward 6 hours: I think I ate, conservatively, 127 of them. I will say this though, after a week with no sweets or refrined carbs at all, they were supernaturally awesome. I can't imagine heroin could possibly be any better than that.

Back on the wagon. Just had a mid afternoon snack of tea, kale chips, and a Lara Bar. I've got Cincinnati chili on the stove and am planning some sort of swiss chard saute thing for dinner.

  1. Colin, how did you feel after eating all of that sugar?

    During this past weekend, I ate more sugar then I've consumed over the past two months and I felt awful on Sunday evening, like total shit.

    Can you post your Cincinnati chili recipe? I'm a huge fan of Skyline.

  2. Actually it was just a "Cincinnati Chili" seasoning packet from a local grocery store. It was good enough that I am considering ordering a whole bunch. Way better than Skyline but I think that might be because I used much higher quality beef. If I order them I will definitely bring you some.

    After my sugar binge I didn't feel great, but I didn't feel awful either. I was kind of hoping for a food hangover to act as motivation for next time. Not that that worked in college though.....
