One week down

It seems like pre-planning really saved my rear end. Packing a cooler and strategizing really helped me say "no" to temptations. Although the 10 lbs of good chocolate I had to divide in 55 little baggies would have tempted me, thankfully my co-workers are supportive and not only helped me divide the goodies, but physically restrained me mid-air as I was going for my favorites.

I had to face the greasy foods to sign for the meals ... but I dug into my salad first. In fact, several folks saw me gnawing on my huge salad for about an hour walking around and managing the event. Having something I enjoy eating, really helped (thankfully I'm finding I really enjoy salads mid-day as they provide good energy and don't bog me down).

And I pre-planned some "cheats" - Lara bars. Didn't even eat all that I brought, but it was satisfying and steadying to have a go-to plan ... to have a backup emergency.

I did disobey one of the rules of the Whole30 guidelines. Clothes haven't been getting super loose, but I did wonder if I was making any progress or not. So .... I got on the scale Sunday morning and lost (drum roll) ... 7 lbs. That was super encouraging and boosted my resolve to get through a day that I hadn't planned very well for.

Between church, a friend's birthday party, and a leader's meeting in the evening ... all on a day I was emotionally and physically exhausted could have been a disaster. But why ruin such a good week? So I quickly made some eggs and bacon for breakfast, had a little salad, squeezed in a workout at the box, scarved down some chicken, and wasn't even too tempted by the pile of chocolate in front of me. The meeting in the evening was the hardest as I was fairly hungry ... but options were sandwiches with chips. A friend had pity on me and let me have her apple.

Once I got home I had more bacon than I should have and a few pieces of honey dew and then nothing else. My goal for this week: diversify my protein and pick some things other than the pig. I'm also glad for Glenn's dinner and their spinach salad ... oh and the link about Paleo on the cheap was great. Ended up having a great Chipotle bowl on Saturday night!

Here's to enjoying another week of healthy eating!

(And my reaction when I saw the numbers on the scale? "Wow - that's like a Biggest Loser number right there.")
