I want to share this article with all of you. Doogie sent it to me yesterday. I have some issues with stress, anxiety, adrenal fatigue, and cortisol - and found this article to be extremely helpful:

What are your thoughts? My first was, "Oh shit! Not the coffee!" :)
I like this picture.

me too! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm not convinced that the appropriate theme for the "start of days" is fear. All the talk on cortisol is fine, but I don't believe that all those answers to "what motivates you to start your days" is FEAR. What about HOPE or ANTICIPATION? I think this guy has a problem (cortisol) looking for a solution and fear is a convenient culprit.
ReplyDeleteI'm going read "The Truth about Adrenal Fatigue". But am extremely interested in the artcile posted. There's merit to it.
ReplyDeleteI limit coffee intake to no more than 4 (8oz) cups per day. Seems like a lot but 8oz isn't much. It has helped on days where anxiet/stress run high. I've had a lot of those times since Sept. Caffeine in general is a stressor. I sub with tea if needed.
I also take Natural Calm supplement from time to time. But not too often. It's human draino
great pic doogie!
ReplyDeleteI do think many people (myself included) tip the scale between hope and fear on a daily basis. I still hate mornings ... so guess that tells you the direction my scale is often tipped.
For me there is comfort in the routine of having a cup of coffee, spending some time in prayer / Bible reading as a kick start to the day. It's not just for me, its for all those poor, poor people who have to deal with me on a daily basis ;-).
But I am finding that with better sleep, I'm not needing cup after cup to keep me going. Also, my steady 3 PM Starbucks run has been eliminated. No need to try to wake myself up after a food comma inducing lunch!
Seems like Robb Wolf talks a lot about Cortisol as well. Have been listening to his podcasts. Would be interested to see how your experiment turns out!
That guy's writing style is difficult to read. I didn't know about the relationship between coffee/cortisol.
ReplyDeleteI think I read a study recently about tea's benefit in lowering cortisol levels (may have been in a special population though, i.e. fatties or CVD cases or something). I'll see if I can find it.
