It's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring

My great grandmother, used to say this to me when I was young and I 100% agree. Though, eating paleo, I find my diet settling into a more boring and stoic role. We are almost three full weeks in, day 19 today, and I need to jazz things up. I also feel like I am trapped in my apartment and not allowed to have fun. If I go out at night with friends, I'm likely to have a drink and fail.

Work was slow today, so I took the time to get some ideas for some new paleo recipes. I'm also at the point where I feel like an apple or fruit is not cutting it for me as dessert anymore. I need something new. The paleo banana muffins I made were really good and held me over last week, but I didn't make anything like that this week.

Here are some up and coming recipes I'll be working on. I'm taking the day off from WCCF so I'll be spending sometime in my kitchen tonight and will try to nail two of these out.

Italian wedding soup with chicken meatballs and kale or spinach, not sure
Italian sausage stuffed poblano peppers
Ground beef with my own taco seasoning instead of the salty packet o crap, can use for lunch or a quick dinner and add fresh avocado, tomato, red onion and cilantro
Blueberry/Banana squares
Coconut blondie bars

Last night I had two of the nicest compliments. One was from Briana at WCCF, she told me that I'm looking really strong. Me, strong looking? Wow, seriously thank you. As well, the Jeneral told me that I look like I've lost some lbs. Comments like this make me not want to cheat and stay straight and not drink. I'm going to remember this and compliment others more freely, especially all of my paleo challengers out there. You guys rock and I'm glad we are fighting through this together.

  1. This whole no drinking thing has got to stop. What fun is life without some cocktails? And while I may not be being all I can be paleo-wise, some vino has helped keep me sane. And here's some more words to live by - If I died tomorrow I would be very sad I didn't drink more. :-)

That said, I have my mid-challenge check on Saturday with Steve B. Perhaps I will be changing my tune then, but if there is even a modicum of progress I am busting out the red.... Revolution!!!!

  2. I agree with you Yaz, but the point of me doing this challenge was to go straight for 6 weeks and see what paleo does for my body, so by drinking and eating cheese, I'm not taking full advantage of the challenge.

Also, what is the last day of this, the 29th, the 30th?

  3. I believe we are getting re-measured the 27th. Unfortunately, three people still have not donated their respective 20 dollars into the championship fund.

  4. Haha - I think instead of Pious Wednsday (as celebrated in Mancini houseld) the McDougalds prefer Pious Thursday! Kidding of course - I am proud (and impressed) that you are able to give up the booze for these six weeks - and you should be proud too! As for me, I think I decided I don't want to. :-) Especially since my first shipment from Phelps just came in... Mmmmmmm blended reds.....I'm fighting cancer bitches!!

  5. I know two of those people are the Mancinis. We will pay don't you worry - though since I will probably win not sure I should bother. Plus you know where to find us....

  6. Yaz, do you still have my jerky? If you do, bring it to the box next time and I'll give you the money. I won't be there tonight, but I'll be in tomorrow and/or Saturday.

Yaz, this challenge is only 6 weeks and you can totally give up drinking, it's not hard, like you said poverty is hard. I'll even go out on a limb and say that one glass a week is okay since you have to keep your sanity, but you've been drinking a lot more than that. Sorry to call you out, but I have to be honest like I was with Collin. You can do it, you are one strong bitch, I work out with you and am a little afraid to even write this message. Quit the wine.

  8. I will reassess my stance on wine come Saturday. As for now...tomorrow is our 5 year anniversary and I would be remiss if I didn't raise a glass... :-)

And btw - down another pound.... In vinum illic est victoria!!!
